Tega Baah

November 7 was Tega's birthday! Tega is a great friend of mine and very important to me, so I want to do an entry all about her.

Few people I know have the wit and sass and... I am really going to use this word... swag of Tega. On top of her life-of-the-party personality, she is one of the most honest and genuine people I know. She has a big heart, a strong, beautiful spirit, and a sharp mind. I could rave on, but you really have to meet her. I have wanted her to visit the US for years. Hopefully she will get the opportunity one day.

Tega greeted Mel and I at the airport in Accra, Ghana when we arrived on Saturday (November 2). It was incredible to see her after all these years... so unreal and yet it felt so normal, like we have been together all this time.

That is the best thing about true friends--you grow separately without growing apart, you change as individuals without becoming disconnected, and when you come back together it's as if the years between were only days. After three years Tega and I are different people, but even so we are not strangers to each other.

I have experienced this with close friends again and again and it is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful phenomena of life.

Tega and I together again, November 2013!
